Dobrze mieć Grog jak nadchodzi sztorm...

Grog – rum lub inny silny trunek, rozcieńczony wodą; zawierać może sok z cytrusów, cynamon, gorącą wodę lub cukier dla poprawy smaku. Podawany niegdyś marynarzom na żaglowcach.

Grog przyczynił się wydatnie do poprawy stanu zdrowia marynarzy. W owym czasie nie znano jeszcze przyczyn i sposobów zapobiegania szkorbutowi, chorobie wywoływanej przez niedobór witaminy C. Jednym z najprostszych sposobów jej uniknięcia jest picie soku owoców cytrusowych. Wprowadzenie grogu zapewniło marynarzom codzienną dawkę witamin, w przeciwieństwie do podawanego wcześniej piwa, które nie zawierało witaminy C.
